Walk Safely On and Around Campus

Walk Safely!

With all of the snow and ice we’ve been experiencing, there has been an increase in slips, trips, and falls, so please take a moment to review some safe walking tips. We should all take precautions to avoid slipping.  Here are some steps we can all take to avoid injury:

  • Wear sturdy footwear like boots or slip-resistant shoes.

  • Walk like a penguin!

    • Walk slowly and watch the placement of your feet.

    • Use your arms to steady and balance yourself.

  • Use a backpack or bag to carry your items.

  • Watch out for black ice. Black ice looks like a wet surface but is solid ice.

  • Be mindful of where you park and be careful getting out of your car. You may be on ice.

  • Wipe your feet as you enter a building - the first steps inside a building are the most dangerous.
