Waste Recovery Services handles waste collection and disposal on the Twin Cities Campus, recovering materials through ReUse, Recycling, Zero-Waste, and infectious waste programs, following Minnesota's waste management hierarchy.

Zero Waste

Goal to divert 90% or more of materials from the waste stream.

Recycle

Materials collected on campus are hand-sorted and sent to local markets to be made into new products.

Disposal

Unrecoverable non-hazardous waste is incinerated for energy recovery.

Reuse

The practice of giving materials a chance to be utilized by someone else before recycling or disposal.

Compost

Composting organic waste into a soil amendment.

Hazardous Materials

Removing, transporting, separating, consolidaing and storing potentially hazardous materials and chemicals.
