EB Custodian Dave Wevley Retires as a Star Performer

Dave has been our custodian in Bruininks Hall for many years and all of the building tenants respect and appreciate his work. He's not just a guy who does an incredible job cleaning our building, he is someone you can trust and is incredibly dependable. Every week (if not every other day) he finds lost and found items left behind in classrooms and he turns them in to our Helping U desk. We track these items in a database and often students are re-connected withtheir valuables for which they are incredibly thankful. Unfortunately Dave does not get to hear the gracious thank yous from these students and the sighs of relief when they are reunited with their items, which is why I want to nominate him for this award before he retires in December this year. What a wonderful way to end a career at the U!

We will all miss you Dave!  Enjoy retirement!

I hope you all had a relaxing 4th of July holiday and had a chance to spend some time with family and friends. July 1st marks the beginning of our new fiscal year; the fiscal year (FY) is the financial timeframe in which we set and manage our budgets, and our fiscal years run from July 1- June 30. If you thought 2019 was already passing too quickly, let me welcome you to FY 2020.

Cleaning over 7,000 sinks, toilets and urinals takes skill and commitment from our dedicated co-workers. Each day a proper procedure is performed in the restrooms to clean from least contaminated (sink/vanity area) to more contaminated (toilet/urinal area) to provide a safe facility for students, staff and visitors. Every year our custodial co-workers install 9,000 paper towel rolls and over 23,000 rolls of toilet tissue!
